The drone operators monitor the captured images and try to identify the signs for illegal killing activities unregistered vehicles on animal tracks wired fences cut and other suspicious movements. With so much promised the use of drones in stopping the killers of the wild is in its nascent stage. It is an effort to initiate improvements so that the massacre of wild animals can be put to a stop. But the concept is definitely worth a consideration.
Since it is for the wild a drone too big in size will be hard to handle in the absence of landing point and runway. The best bet is to go for something smaller in size that would be easy to carry around and has a smaller launching time. Those who had been dealing in drones and has the experience of handling the kinds like the much celebrated DJI Phantom 2 will point out that drones since meant to undertake long flying hours and cover large distances are best purchased when they can be operated either autonomously or via remote control.
The Phantom Vision takes it a step further providing a first person vision (FPV) experience by streaming live video from the attached HD 1080p camera via WiFi to your tablet or smart phone. The transmitter has a stand for attaching your device so that you can watch where you are flying. The camera is pretty good. Not as good as a GoPro but it does record in 1080p and has a 14MP camera. Its field of view can be changed between 140/120/90 degrees. It can also take photos in RAW format which is one improvement over the GoPro.
However the DJI Phantom comes with GPS capability and a return home feature built in. Apart from the price difference between these two drones the way they are controlled is the next largest difference. Parrot with help from French researchers have created quite an intuitive app for iOS and Android called Parrot Freeflight. The AR Parrot 2.0 drone basically acts as a WiFi hotspot which connects to your smartphone or tablet and this allows it to stream HD video directly to your device.
