If you have a large outdoor patio or lounge area you may have considered installing outdoor carpeting; which can greatly add to its comfort. Youll find that the majority of outdoor carpets are produced from fibers that are synthetic like olefin or polypropylene. Moreover there are natural fibered outdoor carpets like jute or hessian. The types differ mainly in the way that they are manufactured or constructed. They consist of grass needle punch and loop. Most people are familiar with the grass type of indoor outdoor carpet because its green and is made to look like grass; however you can get the grass carpet in other colors such as blue and many other colors. Some can get pretty wild looking but the thing to remember is you can find some other color besides green.
As mentioned earlier the most thought of outdoor carpet is what is referred to as marine outdoor carpeting. When I think of this carpet I go back to being a kid and hanging out around the marina at the lake and all the marine carpeting all over. It always seemed to be faded and/or ripped and looked awful. Luckily it doesnt look that bad if its kept in good shape and replaced when it gets worn. Marine carpet is made to withstand being constantly wet and actually hold water as opposed to letting it run off. Olefin or known as polypropylene is created from synthetic resin. The best thing about olefin is it is extremely resilient to light and stains. Meaning its resistant to stain fading and mold. Youll often see this carpet used as putting greens in a back yard in the floor of sheds and patios or other areas outdoor. This carpet comes in a huge variety of colors and gives you more choice for style and color than the traditional marine carpet.
Carpet purchase is a highly expensive purchase for an average consumer. As per the current market trends consumers are choosing carpets for their outdoors too. Different types of outdoor carpets are available in the market with variety of colors textures and patterns. While choosing an outdoor carpet you should be aware of the location where you are going to install it. You will get number of carpet varieties for your outdoor locations like pool area duck patio decks breezeways gazebos etc. While selecting the carpet you should also give proper care to the climate of the region where you are located. Rain humidity and general dampness are mostly affecting the durability of the carpets. Most of the outdoor carpets are made from a material called olefin. Since it has a rough texture it is not suitable for indoors. Olefin is highly durable as well as stain resistant. To a large extent sunlight and humidity may not affect these carpets.
Turf and grass outdoor carpets are designed as one would imagine to simulate grass. Like marine carpeting this type is also highly resistant to the elements. One of the drawbacks to turf and grass carpeting is the fact that it is generally only available in squares which can create a large amount of seeming when compared to marine carpeting. This does however allow for the easy replacement of certain areas of carpeting affected by wear and tear as it is much more convenient to replace a few squares versus replacing an entire area. Turf and grass carpeting generally comes with a sticky backing that can simply be peeled away prior to applying the square to the designated area. Because it is designed to look like grass and its color availability is limited this type may not be the best choice for use in the home but is well suited for strictly outdoor use or where color is not an issue.
