The battery that comes with the model is a 1S 3.7V 500 mAh LiPo battery and provides about 10 minutes of battery life. The battery does take about 45 minutes to charge so you might want to get yourself a couple extra batteries so that you can fly for longer periods of time. They are pretty cheap and provide for much more fun! And dont worry about crashing as long as you are over grass you can pretty much crash it as much as you want. The carbon fiber spars are strong and the plastic canopy is durable. It is so light that there is not a lot of momentum built up in a crash so there is not a lot of damage that can occur. But if you DO happen to break something there are in depth tutorials online on how to repair your little quadcopter. It also comes with spare propellers and you can buy replacement parts online.
Once your quadcopter is in the air you can fly it forwards backwards to the left and to the right. You need to hold the left stick (throttle) at all times to keep the machine airborne. The right stick will then be used to move it to any direction you want. The basic four directions are easy to learn; however once you have mastered these controls you should move on to experiment with yaw to rotate it in mid-air. These are the steps to make your first flight successful. With time and practice you will learn more advanced functions to fly your quadcopter in various patterns and thoroughly enjoy the experience. Some examples of various patterns include flying it in a square pattern or in a circle. You will need to hold down on one of the controls to make this happen repeatedly. Changing directions and rotating at the same time allows you to fly your copter continuously in the air. Its a good practice to fly up to an altitude of just a few feet in the beginning so that you dont damage it if you lose control.
Examples of these UAVs include Global Hawk Mariner Hunter Predator and Fire Scout. These are large sophisticated flying machines with a satellite data link system cameras radar laser designators and weapons. Most of these are fully autonomous which means they are intelligent devices capable of decision making during their flight. They capture battle damage information in real time and convey it back to the soldiers on ground. They are able to provide continuous operations for up to 7 or 8 hours of staying in the air. There are six functional categories of UAVs and these machines are designed to achieve a particular objective. The purposes that they fulfill include target acquisition battlefield intelligence attack (also known as unmanned combat air vehicle) cargo and logistics research and development and commercial UAVs. UAVs are also classified according to their size and these are known as micro miniature midsize and large military-specific or combat.
So that may all sound pretty complicated but dont be scared because all that complicated stuff is handled in the flight control board. All you have to worry about it moving two sticks one way or another. So which quadcopter will help you get off the ground quickest? One of my all time favorite quadcopters for beginners is the Syma X1. It is very inexpensive and flies very well. It comes with a 2.4 GHz transmitter so you are able to fly outdoors and get pretty good range. Another good beginner quadcopter is the Blade mQX. This is a great little quadcopter as well and one nice thing is that it is compatible with other radios so you dont have to rely on the one it came with. Both are durable and will provide you with hours of fun flying time.
